Keeping Spring Clean at Home

March 12, 2015

I went to the store the other day to stock up on some items for the house and thought about how I instinctively go to brands that I grew up with. It makes life interesting when T comes home with a different brand than I normally buy and I think to myself, “What is that?”. When I had to get new hand soap (among other exciting items) for the house over the weekend, I went right to Softsoap. I did, however, branch out a little bit this time, buying the new foaming hand wash rather than my normal hand soap. I will not lie to you, I may or may not have done so because the colors on the bottles match the rooms in my house.
For the kitchen I chose the Kitchen Citrus Bliss, mainly because it is green and yellow and matches my green kitchen valances. Symmetry, my friends.

The upstairs bathroom obviously got Jasmine and White Cotton for its blue and white bottle, and I grabbed the Whipped Cocoa Butter as a backup. I have a cocoa butter lotion I’ve been using for years, and I love the smell, so this one went into the basket, too. I’m trying to do a better job of not stocking up too much on items, so I’m using a galvanized pail to hold “extras”. That way I will know I have a backup (and exactly where it is).

About how these bottles match my house… Here are a couple other shots of the (not huge) bathroom. Blue and white all day, err’day.

The paint in the bathroom makes the walls look teal in some light and blue in others: Exhibits A and B are here. I promise you, though, it’s somewhere in between.
One of my favorite things in the bathroom:  My robe from my wedding day hangs there.
White and navy for the win!

I was craving more storage space, so I recently added this little shelf. Right now it’s holding new makeup goodies from a weekend trip to Sephora (always dangerous…), but soon I’ll actually do something with it.

And while we’re in the bathroom, I’ll show you one of my favorite additions. Rather than having all of my makeup thrown in a cosmetic bag, I recently purchased this little organizer. Life changing.

If you’re also obsessed with blue and white and need to find the new Softsoap foam hand wash, you can head to the Health & Beauty department at Walmart. All three scents are sitting pretty right on the shelf!

Love the blue bathroom and that shelf is simple but brilliant! The Foaming Softsoap definitely matches! #client
