Clean and Prep for Thanksgiving

My younger sister lives in NYC with her new husband, and they often stay with us during the holidays, which is one of the reasons I wanted to get our guest room all prettied up. (No one wants to stay in a room that looks thrown together.) We call our guest room “the travel room” because we hung up some of our favorite travel photos on the walls and decorated the console table with travel books from places we’ve visited. (I started to collect a book for each place in the year we visited, but then I realized that I need to … not do that. Remember how I’m trying to get rid of stuff, not collect new things?)

I love this little elephant decoration from Thailand

Before having guests arrive, I always want to make sure the house is as clean as possible. The best way to clean? With an awesome playlist. T and I have figured out that the best way to get the house sparkling clean from top to bottom (without hiring someone) is to put on a great playlist and get going. We tend toward classic rock and get moving.

Here’s a playlist of 10 of our favorite songs to jam dust to.

I recently discovered Windex® Original Glass Wipes, and I’m hooked. I’ve used Windex® for years (actually, my mom used it when I was little, too), and I’m all about finding a quicker way of getting the job done when it comes to something that’s a necessary evil, like cleaning the house.

Cleaning the bathroom is one of my least favorite chores ever, but if I can get it done quickly and efficiently, that just leaves more time for a dance party in the living room. These are some of my go to products for keeping the house spic and span:

All of these cleaning must-haves can be found in the cleaning aisle at your local Walmart.

Tell me: What are your tricks to keeping your house clean?
