One Room Challenge: Redoing the Guest Room

April 4, 2014

I’m taking part in a One Room Challenge (originally found here), where a group of bloggers make over just one room in their house over a 6-week period. This is perfect timing, because I’ve been thinking about what to do in our guest bedroom for a while (read: two years). Just last week we had to redo the ceiling in there because of some water damage over the winter, so with the ceiling needing to be primed and painted, it’s time for the room to have some sprucing-up!

I’ve honestly been embarrassed about our guest room for some time, because it was basically furnished when we moved in (we bought some of the furniture from the prior owners), so we put our extra bed in there and never touched it again. The closet is used for our off-season storage, so we just started collecting things in the room.

My thoughts for what it should look like go a little like this:

Calming colors, definitely neutrals

These gold lamps are so pretty! And a vase full of peonies

More neutrals and an interesting light fixture above

A nice touch for guests

Check back each Wednesday to see the room’s progress! (And click on the ORC logo at the top of this post to see all of the rooms involved.)

That framed sign with wi-fi is brilliant. It looks like you are really focusing in on all the details. Thanks for joining and good luck.
