Notes on Blogging

October 6, 2014

When I started blogging (in May 2012), it was because I needed a creative outlet to share things I loved. I was taking a very introspective class at the time as part of my MBA, and I realized that I needed something outside of my 9 to 5 that allowed me to talk about the things I find interesting. My job at the time was pretty cut-and-dry, and there wasn’t much room for taking risks or being creative. I’ve been a journaler (is that a word?) my whole life, and pretty much the entirety of my waking hours are spent with technology, so a blog felt like a natural extension. Sidenote: I totally had a LiveJournal back in the day. It was cool then, I swear.

Blogging is an interesting space to be in, and I don’t think you can truly understand it unless you are a part of it. I think I am, in a word, addicted. I love going back and reading old posts and seeing where my head was at some particular time. Sometimes I’m slightly embarrassed by old posts, but I’m leaving them to remind myself that I can’t be “on” all the time, and I will do things that make me cringe in the future. I also love seeing where other bloggers are, especially ones I’ve been following for years now, like Mackenzie, Dallas, and Jessica.

My hope for this space of mine is to continue to have a place to be creative, to be better at making connections with the blogging community in Boston, and to grow my little piece of the blogosphere. If you have any questions, comments, or criticisms, I’m always open to them! You can find me at feathersandstripes at gmail dot com or leave a note in the comments below. Thank you for reading!
