Beach Tunics

June 5, 2018

Years ago, I would wear whatever to the beach over my swimsuit. Then I discovered beach tunics, and I haven’t packed gym shorts for a beach vacation since! (Not that I’ve ever done that…)

The first time I packed a beach tunic was for a Miami trip a few years ago. I packed a really fun green tunic that is unlike anything I had in the past, but it was beaded and pretty, so it came along for the trip. I got a ton of compliments on it, so I decided to make it a regular in my suitcase.

The best thing about these swim cover ups is that they easily go from beach to brunch and back again. And for someone with really sun-sensitive skin, it’s an easy way to cover up when you’re sick of reapplying sunscreen! (My shoulders burn SO easily that I like to keep a shirt of some kind on hand for when the sun gets really hot. Beach tunics do double duty because they not only cover my shoulders but some are long enough to cover at least part of my legs, too.)

I now own six beach cover ups that I rotate on our beach vacations. One of my favorites is a white crochet, off-the-shoulder version (snapped in the photo above). I don’t know how well I will wear an off-the-shoulder beach cover up this summer while carrying a baby, though… Might be time to get a new style ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here are some I have my eye on:
